Zimbabwe’s maize production doubles

Zimbabwe’s agricultural production is estimated to have risen significantly this year, compared to the past years. However United nations (UN) says “high food insecurity persists in Zimbabwe in spite of the improvement in agricultural production.

Good rainfall in the past season meant the 2009 production of maize is estimated to have more than doubled to 1.14 million tonnes, a report by the World Food Programme (WFP) and Food and Agriculture Organisation said.
