Zimbabwe to change currency next week

According to an article in the Independent newspaper, Zimbabwe is going to change it’s currency in the first week of December. With the process expected to begin as early as tomorrow.

Zimbabweans have been suffering from a severe cash crisis which the reserve bank Governor blamed on people who are hoarding cash. In an operation code named sunrise 2 he announced the plans to change the currency which was going to be effected without warning.

Over the past few years the economy has suffered a massive decline, due to corruption in different sectors of the economy, mismanagement and also outside forces.
High inflation has also seen the workers feeling the pain, their disposable incomes is not worth talking about. Most of the workers can not even afford transport costs, and even to feed their families. It’s not worth going to work any more in Zimbabwe.

The introduction of the new currency is meant to easy the cash shortages, which will be welcome especially during this festive season. However most of the workers do not earn that much. They will still not have any disposable income. Even those who will get the money there is nothing to buy in the shops.

It never rains………forever suffering.
