Zimbabwe Police Station Bombing Was An Inside Job

Zimbabwe Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri has said the recent bombing incident at Harare Central Police Station was an inside job and investigations have since intensified.

Commissioner Chihuri told the state controlled Herald newspaper that policeman and women should not resort to “distraction” of property but should approach his office if they have grievances.

“We are convinced that as an organisation we might not come out clean on the bombing issue. Destruction is not the solution and everyone with a grievance should come to my office so that it can be addressed.”

Commissioner Chihuri said the net would soon close in on the culprits behind the August 2 bombing. He also called on members of the police force to be professional and shun corruption.

According to police, the bombs appeared to have been planted by someone with expertise in the use of explosives. Police also found two unexploded bombs on the first floor of the CID Headquarters, overlooking Kenneth Kaunda Avenue.
