Zimbabwe: No Deal between Mugabe and Mutambara

Zimbabwe’s talks to negotiate a power sharing deal have broken down without an agreement, contrary to earlier reports of a deal between Robert Mugabe and the MDC faction led by Arthur Mutambara.
The talks include Robert Mugabe, Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara the leader of the smaller MDC faction.

Earlier a Zanu PF official had said President Robert Mugabe and Arthur Mutambara’s faction had reached a deal that would lead to a new government which exclude Morgan Tsvangirai.

This was however denied by Welshman Ncube, spokesman for the breakaway MDC faction, who said: “No deal has been signed by anyone, Dialogue is still continuing.”

Talks mediator, South African President Thabo Mbeki had also said earlier that he was not aware if a deal had been signed between Mugabe and Mutambara.

It is not yet known when talks will resume again. For now, my fellow Zimbabweans, we have to wait and hope.

Have your say, I’m always interested in what you have to say.
