Zimbabwe Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai was booed at a meetingg with Zimbabwean exiles living in the UK when he said they should come back home to Zimbabwe. Some Zimbabweans are already going back home, others would rather wait and see. So, when is the right time to consider going back to Zimbabwe? Should we go back home now and labour with others in re-building the country. Or maybe we wait and go back when things are right and enjoy the fruits of those who are suffering under the current troubles in Zimbabwe?
Zimbabweans have different opinions on whether to go back home now or wait and see. However things maybe bad now……But! This is not a permanent state, the economy will get better and life will be sweeter again if we work harder and smarter together as a nation.
To me the diaspora has presented us Zimbabweans with many opportunities that we will never had got if we were in Zimbabwe. The main question to ask yourself is: What are you doing to help improve the situation back home? This is not the time to be complaining and blaming whoever you want to blame for the current problems we face today. This is the time to take action, time to make decisions. Real decisions that change lives!
Back to the question: When is the right time to go back to Zimbabwe?
I believe you can make a difference and influence events back in Zimbabwe from wherever you are. You don’t really need to go back to Zimbabwe now in order to help re-build the country. In fact living in the diaspora gives us a better opportunity to find the money we need to start projects back home. It gives you the opportunity to acquire new skills which will help you when you finally decide to go back to Zimbabwe. It gives us the opportunity to raise other resources needed to start a business.
The main issue is what are you doing with your time in the diaspora? Some of our Zimbabweans have involved themselves in criminal activities and are now in jail in different countries….Some may call that wasted opportunities! All the way from Zimbabwe to end up in prison in some foreign country?
So, what do you think is the right time to go back to Zimbabwe? Feel free to contribute by posting your comments.
