What next for Airline travellers to Zimbabwe?

As the news spread around of British Airway’s last flight to Zimbabwe, this marked another sad sad charpter in the troubled Zimbabwean community. Already we have to endure long waiting hours, delays and flight cancellations, and when you finally manage to take off on our beloved national airline you pray all the way that you will arrive safely.

How do we find ourselves in this big mess? Is it reaally true that the London to Harare route was no longer economically viable for British Airways?

Looking at what is happening to the Zimbabwean economy, I don’t think we can blame BA. All the signs are there to see about how not to manage an economy. At the height of good trading relations, Air Zimbabwe introduced a direct flight from Harare to London. Now there is nothing meaningful happening.

We used to have a booming tourism industry, there was a lot to see in the beautiful land of Zimbabwe. Way before somebody decided to settle right in the middle of the game park and feast on endangered species. Destroying one of the backbones of the tourism industry. And all those who played a part in promoting lawlessness which make people feel very unsecure about going to Zimbabwe, even Zimbabweans.

God have mercy on our beloved Zimbabwe!
