Driving from Harare International Airport to the suburbs of Harare you’ll soon notice cars driving on the wrong side of the road or in a zig-zag way trying to avoid pothole which are now common on most Harare roads. This type of driving is something normal to the residents of Harare and I guess to the City council officials and government officials. In fact potholes in some areas are so serious you would think the area has been invaded by illegal Gold panners.
With the rain falling in Harare, the pothole situation is going to get worse. In fact the state of the roads is so bad…makes one wonder whether Harare Council officials use these same roads??? Do Zimbabwe politicians and government officials use these same roads as well???? In the ideal world the current Harare City management team need to be fired from work…or maybe send to prison.
Why is tax payer’s money being wasted paying these incompetent and corrupt council officials???
Road signs have been vandalised, traffic lights do not work….either because of vandalism or in most cases there is no electricity. It’s now a nightmare to drive in Harare, or maybe not for some residents of Harare.
Robert Mugabe together with his Zanu PF government are responsible for the current sad state of the once Sunshine City of Harare. If I remember very well, there was a Ministry of Local Government and Urban Planning, there is even a Governor of Harare plus the Commission appointed by the government to loot the little resources left in the coffers of the Harare City council. Instead of all these organisation doing their job…all they have done is loot government and council resources. Sad!!
If the Elias Mudzuri led MDC council was not good enough for Harare, who can stand up and say job well done to the thieves running the affairs of the City of Harare??? Shame on all those responsible for destroying our once beautiful city of Harare and reducing it to a pothole city.
