Why I don’t like politicians?
Suddenly there is a lot of activity in Zimbabwe’s villages. The kind of activity last seen in 2002. Politicians do lie, but what is it that make them lie over and over again to the same people? Or is there something wrong with the people who are lied to over and over again? Why is it that people do not think about all these nice things said to them only during election campaign time? Is it that people don’t know that the power is in their hands? Their vote is the greatest weapon against these political lies. With the current situation in Zimbabwe, all the problems faced by the people of Zimbabwe, politicians should be ashamed of themselves for liying to the people again. And the people should be ashamed of themselves for voting for the same people who lie to them over and over again.
So, what can make one this angry? Very simple, despite all the problems that people have been experiencing all these past years nobody paid any attention. People have been facing severe transport problems. People wait for long hours in queues waiting for transport to go to work. But suddenly, villagers get 23 buses because it’s election time. So all this time these politicians did not know that people have no transport, if they did why didn’t they do anything about it?
If bus operators are withdrawing because of poor roads, why is it that nothing is being done to repair the roads. Is it not the bad state of the economy which, shortage of foreign currency which means bus operators can not afford to buy spare parts. There is no sabotage here like politicians want us to believe.
Suddenly villagers get 500 tractors and thousands of Ox drawn pluoghs. Of all the months why in the middle of March when the farming season is coming to an end. This year most Zimbabwean villagers face severe food shortages again despite the good rains this season. Why is it that these villagers can not see beyond these lies. Where are they goin to get the fuel from? That is if they will ever see these tractors. How many are going to ever see these tractors in their fields? The villagers should just go back to their homes and work rather than listening to these pure lies.
And the Vice President lamented the lack of irrigation facilities in Wedza and at the same time praising them for starting the land invasions. Who is supposed to provide the farming equipment to the villagers?
Didn’t these same people took all the equipment that was left in some of the farms and sale, even though some of it may have been stollen at least some one should be held responsible for that.
So, how good is a computer donation to schools where there are no teachers? That is if they even have computer trained teachers in those schools. Even though this is a very welcome donation surely not only at every election time. Is this not vote buying that other parties are always talking about?
When teachers ask for a salary increment, nobody listens to them but come election time they get huge salary increases because most of them are polling officers in the villages. Even the learned teachers how can they be lied to over and over agian?
As for the traditional chiefs, well they are used to their pamperred lives whilst the rest of the people in their areas suffer. Now they get a drum of diesel each, whilst the rest of the villagers can not travel because of the high travelling costs, shortage of transport because of lack of fuel and spare parts. And the Chiefs are chauffer driven in government provided cars.
All this so they can make sure all the people under them vote the ‘right’ way.
And what happened when the President met his former pupils in Zvishavane? “There was applause as they (the former pupils) trudged along from their seats and went up the podium to greet the President. Ironically, some of the grey haired pupils are now walking with difficulty compared to their teacher”.
Why give trouble to a group of poor and impoverished old man and women, over worked all these years and have nothing to show for all their troubles.
Nothing lasts forever, surely one day all these problems people are faced with shall come to pass. Even though it may take time we can only hope things will get better. How I wish we could live in a world without politicians.
