Zimbabwe At 30

Today we celebrate 30 years of independence, for some of us the celebrations started yesterday and today is the climax of what has been massive weekend.

So, what is this day all about?

Zimbabwe News

It is the day we got our freedom and dignity back after years of oppression under the white colonialists. Can you imagine there were white only areas where no blacks were not allowed in our own country?

The white colonialist took all the prime farming land and shared it among themselves whilst native Zimbabweans where pushed into over-crowded poor soil areas, so that they would forever work for the white man.

I could go on and on talking about how cruel these white colonialists where to the native Zimbabweans. Because we are now independent that’s why this day means a lot to us Zimbabweans.

What does this day mean to you as a Zimbabwean?

What Do We Have After 30 Years Of Independence

To you all my fellow Zimbabweans, on 18 April 2010 we will be celebrating 30 years of freedom from the oppression under the white minority rule in Rhodesia. This is a very important day in our lives as Zimbabweans, and 30 years is a landmark anniversary.

We will forever be grateful and respect those gallant sons and daughters of  Zimbabwe who sacrificed their lives so that you and me could be free today.  We think of Ambuya Nehanda, Sekuru Kaguvi, Josiah Tongogara, Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo, Hebert Chitepo, Leopold Takawira, Masotsha Ndlovu, Lookout Masuku, George Silundika, Alfred Nikita Mangena and all the heroes who did not make it back from the war of independence.

But, as a Zimbabwean what do you have after 30 years of independence?

Heros Acre

Zimbabwe Heroes Acre

Even though the most wicked and inhuman laws that existed under the Rhodesia government have gone, these were replaced with some draconian laws by the Zanu Pf government. They came into power at independence and found out that power is so sweet and they became corrupted by power now they think its their God given right to rule forever.

Where is the land all those heros died for during the liberation war?

Even after the controversial land grab led by Chenjerai Hunzvi and the so called ‘war veterans’ how many of you got land?

Today the majority of Zimbabweans live in poverty whilst a few enjoy the milk and honey in the country. Why?

The legacy of the real heroes who died for the liberation of Zimbabwe is being tarnished by those who are abusing power today because they fought for the liberation of Zimbabwe.

Happy Independence Day Zimbabwe!!!
