Breaking News: Deal for Mugabe to transfer power to Morgan Tsvangirayi
There is news coming from Harare that there are talks taking place between Morgan Tsvangirayi of MDC and Robert Mugabe of Zanu PF. The deal involves Robert Mugabe making an announcement on national television that he is going to step aside and transfer power to Morgan Tsvangirayi. The deal also seem to have been confirmed by a US State Department official after being in contact with the MDC officials.
The sources from the opposition say a deal is nearly done but are urging caution. However it is also said that Zanu’s deputy information minister Bright Matonga has said there is no such deal and talks going on. All we can do is wait and see as the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission are taking their time with results which is now causing anger in people.
People are very angry with how this election results business has been handled. The electoral commission has been releasing results very slow which has caused anxiety, confusion and anger in people.
Election results have been in the public domain ever since they were posted at various polling stations. So people already know the results, which seem to point at a victory for Morgan Tsvangirayi and MDC.
These are the results which have been available on the Internet all along. These are the results which people seem to be blaming some MDC officials for releasing the results which now seem to be different from what the Electoral Commission is now announcing.
But why are people so quick to agree with what the Electoral Commission is announcing. The whole electoral system in Zimbabwe is not something that can be trusted just like that.
But I understand people are fade up with the current situation in Zimbabwe. They are desperate for change thus the longer the results are delayed the more confusion is created.
Rumours or no rumours it is most likely that it’s true there is a meeting taking place between MDC and Zanu PF. The results show an overwhelming win for MDC.
Again there was supposed to be a press conference by Morgan Tsvangirayi scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, which was postponed more than once which shows that something definitely is happening behind the scenes.
But what is it?
Who is involved in that meeting and what are they talking about? Sources seem to suggest we are not very far from knowing the truth. But this is Zimbabwe, anything is possible. Until anything is signed we will urge caution, keep fingers crossed.
