Prime Minister Tsvangirai to meet Gordon Brown for talks in London

Zimbabwe Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is set for talks with British PM Gordon Brown and he is expected to ask for financial support from Britain.

PM Tsvangirai is on a tour of America and Europe to lobby for funds to support Zimbabwe’s transition government. PM Tsvangarai said it was important for the international community to support the transition government to strengthen democratic reforms.

PM Tsvangirai also said a lot of work is being done to transform the institutions that were used to abuse people, to prepare for fresh elections.
It is very important for all Zimbabweans to work together in an environment where we can trust each other. The problem is the past events in the country make it difficult for us Zimbabweans to trust some of our politicians and politicians do not have trust among themselves. There should be unity of purpose, every Zimbabwean contributing in the re-building of Zimbabwe.

The people who booed and hackled Tsvangirai in London had their reasons for doing so. But, did anyone expect him to say ‘please don’t come back home’? He would have failed as a Prime Minister because he needs your skills back in Zimbabwe to rebuild the country.
