Very sad!! The story I was reading on Zimbabwe Internet Radio that 8 months after his death, Fortune Muparutsa’s body still lie unclaimed at a funeral parlour in London.
Muparutsa has not been given a decent burial because his family can not pay £2 450 to send his body to Zimbabwe. We just hope something can be done and Fortune’s body can be repatriated to Zimbabwe. This is a problem that has affected a number of families when their relatives die in the diaspora. The cost involved is just too much for many families, especially those back in Zimbabwe.
Probably it’s time people in the diaspora consider having funeral policies or they can also consider forming burial societies with families. What do you think about problems of repatriating dead relatives from the diaspora? Feel free to share your views by posting your comments.
