MDC claim win in Zimbabwe Presidential elections

Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) secretary general Tendai Biti announced at a press conference Wednesday afternoon that the opposition party had defeated Robert Mugabe’s Zanu PF in both the Presidential and parliamentary elections.
Tendai Biti told the press conference in Harare that based on the results posted outside polling stations, MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirayi won 50.3 percent of the vote and Robert Mugabe 43.8 percent of the vote.

However Zanu PF’s Bright Matonga described MDC victory claims as “mischievous” and he also said that Mugabe is going nowhere.

The delay by the Electoral Commission in announcing the all important Presidential results is causing more anxiety, anger and testing the patience of Zimbabweans. Why is it that they are taking their time in giving people the results they have been waiting for?
The delay has raised suspicions of vote rigging. The pattern in which results have are being announced as if they are sharing sweets to kids has not helped the situation at all.

So are we headed for a Presidential re-run? Like the state run Herald newspaper seems to suggest. Other independent sources also seem to suggest a re-run. MDC secretary general Tendai Biti told a press conference that his party would accept a re-run, but under protest since they believe Morgan Tsvangirayi won the elections.

I think an election re-run will not be good for our economy. With the current problems we are currently experiencing in the country, this election re-run will destroy whatever little is left of the country.
What are your views on what is happening in Zimbabwe at the moment? Is the MDC right to announce the results of the elections? What effect if any do you think the election re-run will have on the economy? Do you think Mugabe has rigged the elections again?

They are looking for disappointment but getting ahead of themselves like that. Mugabe does what Mugabe wants.

What we all suspected will happen is now taking place in Zimbabwe. How can Mugabe and his party now turn around and say MDC rigged elections. How rediculous!

The allegations shocked me to and had me shaking my head. They must be really desperate at the moment with their hold of power slipping away.

And there was an election in Zimbabwe, but where are the results?
