Such will be the expectation come March 29. Could this be one of the most important days in the history of Zimbabwe since independence? Zimbabwe face one of it’s defining moments as the country goes to vote for the next President, MPS and Senators. There is so much at stake in these elections, history will judge us and we will be accountable to future generations for whatever happens on this all important election. The country is suffering from severe economic problems and Zimbabweans have not suffered from economic problems as much as what is happening now.
As Zimbabweans go to vote, it is time to vote for someone who will represent the interests of Zimbabweans. It’s a pity in most cases the election campaigns in Zimbabwe are characterised by personal attacks by candidates. It is characterised by violence among some unguided elements influenced by some greedy politicians who want to win at all costs and then forget about the same people who voted them into office.
Everybody should have an equal right to vote for the candidate of their own choice in a FREE and FAIR election. This include all Zimbabweans scattered all over the world. Why should they be denied the right to vote?
Is it because all Zimbabweans in foreign countries will vote for the opposition? I’m not sure about that? But however the election is about bread and butter issues, the real issues affecting peoples lives.
Is the election about Zimbabwe against the West? Is it about the ruling Zanu government against foreign funded opposition?
Here are some of the important issues to think about as Zimbabwe goes to vote:
1. Food shortages
2. No electricity and Water
3. Crumbling Infrastructure
4. Crumbling Economy
5. 150 000 percent inflation
6. Foreign currency shortages
7. State of education in the country
8. State of the agricultural sector
9. The effect of Nationalisation and Indegenisation of companies
10. Company clossures
11. Poor Health delivery
