Kirsty gets Zimbabwe’s first medal at Beijing Olympics


It’s silver for Kirsty!

Zimbabwe’s Kirsty Coventry won her first medal at the Beijing Olympics 2008, silver in the 400m individual medley. Kirsty finished second behind Stephanie Rice of Australia in the finals at the National Aquatics Centre on Sunday.

Kirsty also broke the Olympics games record in the women’s 100m Backstroke to qualify for the semi finals.

Meanwhile Kirsty went on to win her semi final Heat 2 of the women’s 100m Backstroke. The finals will be on Tuesday, which gives Zimbabwe hope of another medal there, hopefully Gold this time.
