Thomas Mapfumo has always been the best performer out of Zimbabwe. He will always be the best. What a great show last night at Rex, Stratford. After the disappointment of the last show by Oliver Mtukudzi and the Soul Brothers last time, this was money well spent.

Besides the slight problems with the sound system which they managed to fix but the promoter could have done it a bit better, this was as good as these shows can be in terms of Thomas Mapfumo’s performance. The Blacks Unlimited have changed from those old days in Zimbabwe. Now they have quite a few white brothers in the band but the sound has not changed much, the guys know their stuff. I did enjoy this show.

I nearly missed this show because of my experience at the Soul Brothers and Oliver Mtukudzi show. This was such a rubbish show and I had promised myself never to go for these Zimbabwean shows again.
