Has the Finance Minister Tendai Biti confirmed what most of us feared, that MDC is now part of Zanu PF? Tendai Biti has reportedly told the media that the international community lacked the ‘necessary goodwill’ to support Zimbabwe. Tendai Biti announced that the government has given up hope of getting international aid and the government has got to do with the resources at its disposal. But can this Inclusive Government rebuild the country without the help of the International community? Is this goodbye to the ‘New’ Zimbabwe that Tsvangirai promised when he joined forces with Mugabe? Now we know what Tsvangirai meant when he says he is now best buddies with Robert Mugabe.
Tendai Biti declared that Zimbabwe is now on its own,
“We are therefore on our own and have to be inward looking so that whatever we get from our co-operating partners is treated as a bonus,” said Biti
According to a report in the Sunday Mail,
“Mr Biti said the Government had failed to secure external financial support, most of which was suspended when Western countries imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe.
He said the local economy was still fragile as manifested in low savings, lack of credit, input and liquidity shortages, industry’s low production capacity and a fraction of the productive population that was formally employed.”“Expecting outside assistance is a joke because many countries are also tinkering between recession and depression,” he said.
“Therefore it will be necessary to urgently come up with a policy framework, preferably with a two to three-year horizon, to guide the formulation and implementation of the 2010 budget.”
So what happened to all those international friends of Mr Tsvangirai? The MDC promised us as soon as they get into government, money will start flowing into Zimbabwe. By declaring that he is now best buddies with the non-reforming Robert Mugabe, has Tsvangirai announced the death of Zimbabwe? Probably that is why he has failed to get any money from the international community.
Its now certain the MDC is enjoying its time in the Inclusive government, they are no longer with the suffering citizens of Zimbabwe. Instead they are now part of Zanu Pf, the same Zanu Pf that Morgan Tsvangirai has fought for the past 10 years. Tsvangirai is now implementing and expect every Zimbabwean to embrace the same policies of Robert Mugabe that he so much criticised all these years. What has he done to all that corruption in government? What has he done to stop the looting of Diamonds in Chiadzwa and all the other minerals in the country? What has he done to the farm invasions? What has he done to the harassment and continuous arrests of MDC MPs?
What has he done about the swearing-in of Roy Bennet? Give us a break, Tsvangirai is enjoying his new status as the Prime Minister and has forgotten about the masses.
Wonder how many Zimbabweans feel let down by Morgan Tsvangirai and the MDC? Is this the same Zimbabwe that Morgan Tsvangirai was telling exiles in London to return to? No wonder why he was booed in London!!! Can they be trusted???? No! Politicians can not be trusted, they don’t care about us!
