Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is in Zimbabwe at the invitation of Robert Mugabe to open the Trade Fair in Bulawayo.
The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) say they were not consulted, and we thought they were in the government together with Zanu PF?
MDC party spokesman Nelson Chamisa said, “Inviting Ahmadinejad to an investment forum in Zimbabwe is like inviting a mosquito to cure malaria,” Chamisa is reported to have said in a telephone interview from Harare.
“It’s an insult to peace-loving people in both Iran and Zimbabwe.”
At a time when Zimbabwe is trying to rebuild its economy and attract the much need foreign investment into the country, this is probably not the best time to have people like Ahmadinejad in Zimbabwe.
What hope do we have of a democratic Zimbabwe if we have leaders who seem to glorify enemies of democracy like Mr Ahmadinejad?
What hope of peace do we have in Zimbabwe as long as our leaders seem to glorify someone like Mr Amadinejad who is so much obessed with build nuclear power?
Iran is reportedly under three sets of United Nations sanctions for refusing to scale down its nuclear program.
