Deal or No Deal? …….”No deal!” say Robert Mugabe.
Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe said that 14 hours of power-sharing talks with opposition leaders have ended inconclusively. However President Mugabe said talks will resume today(Monday) and he was “confident” that a deal could be reached.
Morgan Tsvangirai did not comment as he left the hotel after the meeting, saying he expected South African President Thabo Mbeki to release a press statement on the negotiations.
Asked by reporters after 14 hours of negotiations if there had been progress, President Mugabe said, “Not yet. We are not through but we will continue tomorrow(Monday)”.
The key issue at the talks is how much power president Robert Mugabe will hold and what role Morgan Tsvangirai will play.
There has been media speculation that the opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai would become an executive prime minister and Mugabe a ceremonial president.
We all hope Zanu PF and the opposition MDC are getting closer to a power-sharing deal that will end this political crisis in Zimbabwe. But how are they going to solve the key issues of the security forces?
