Growing up in Zimbabwe, we use to look forward to Christmas time. Christmas was so special, for this was the time when some families could afford rice and chicken…yes once in year. This was the time when some families could afford bread with butter and Sun Jam (re Red). It was also the time when some people could afford to eat and drink as much as they want. Christmas was a special time (remember wapenga nayo bonus???)…..when people would look forward to go to the village for Christmas celebrations. Now all this is history, thanks to Robert Mugabe and Zanu Pf.
Zimbabwe will never be the same again, and Christmas will never be the same again for the people of Zimbabwe. Maybe that’s why they love Robert Mugabe so much. That’s what Robert Mugabe thinks.
The other day he was in the news saying, “Zimbabwe is mine!”. But, there must be something wrong here……what about all the Zimbabwean people??? Are we Mugabe’s people as well????
Back to Christmas…..I think Mugabe has ruined Christmas. Now there will be no chicken and rice…..there will be no bread with butter and Red Sun Jam! There will be no new clothes…..in fact one reason why we used to look forward to Christmas was because of the new clothes. It was not Christmas without new clothes….at least you could get new school uniform for Christmas if your parents could not afford casual wear.
Thanks to Mr Mugabe, Zimbabweans will have a miserable Christmas this year. To make things worse he has brought cholera upon the citizens of Zimbabwe…..sad!
As you celebrate Christmas this year….think of the people of Zimbabwe. The life we are living today is not what we want…..God help us.
