Zimbabwean Mandla Ngwenya ordered to repay £150 000 made from stealing M and S trousers

Mandla Ngwenya is reported to have amassed a £150 889.00 fortune over six years stealing trousers from Marks and Spencer.

Mandla Ngwenya would steal trousers and wear them under his tracksuit bottoms. He would then claim refunds using forged receipts. Now he has to learn the hard way that crime does not pay.

Mandla is one of a number of Zimbabweans who have a taste for an expensive lifestyle which is not matched by the desire to work for it, and they end up turning to crime. Unless they think stealing is work…lol!

According to The Sun report,

“the BMW-driving crook, from Leeds, was told to pay back £150 889 amassed over six years of scams.”

Why is it that most Zimbabweans involved in crime seem to be based in Leeds??

Mandla will get 27 months extra jail unless he pays in six months. He was jailed for 18 months in March for conspiring to steal, plus 15 months in June for contempt after trying to move frozen assets.

Judge Roger Scott told Teeside Crown Court that:

“He (Mandla Ngwenya) is a devious criminal. He’s shown an ability to explain away money.”

Maybe Mr Gordon Brown should take these criminals and give them back to Robert….they have nice places for them in Zimbabwe and they educate them better in those places. I’m sure people like Mandla will be happy to spend their time there…..they will like it so much in there and they will never want to be send back again…lol! Crime does not pay.

Government gives amnesty to 1500 prisoners as it struggles to provide them with food and clothes

President Robert Mugabe has granted amnesty to 1500 prisoners, more than 10 percent of Zimbabwe’s prison population as the country struggles to feed, provide clothing and toiletries for the prisoners. The pardoned prisoners are mainly women and juveniles, and also people with terminal illnesses.

“The Zimbabwe Prison Service has faced challenges in… provision of prisoners’ rations, clothing and bedding, toiletries and transport among others,”

Permanent Secretary in the Justice Ministry David Mangota told the official New Ziana news agency.

“As a short-term relief option… a proposal to have a general amnesty was granted to inmates,” he added.

However people convicted of offences such as murder, rape and conspiracy against the government will not qualify for amnesty, said Mangota.

Banket man raped 2 year old stepdaughter and broke her twin brother’s arm

A Banket man is alleged to have raped his two year old stepdaughter before scalding her with boiling water on the genital area in an effort to conceal the rape…’how cruel’. The girl’s twin brother in an effort to defend his sister, is reported to have jumped onto the step dad’s back but had his arm broken by the father.

Enock Mwanza is now charged with rape and two counts of assault. According to the Sunday Mail,

on March 21 this year, the twins’ mother Chipo Apapaya (20) of Western Ridge Farm in Banket left the children with Mwanza (24) while she went to the nearby Thurbber Farm to get mealie-meal for the family.

In her testimony last Thursday, Apapaya said on her return she discovered that her daughter had been raped and had been scalded with boiling water on the genital area.
She said she discovered blood and some white substance coming from her daughter’s genital area as she attended to the burns.
Apapaya told the court that she also discovered that her son had been scalded with boiling water on the thigh and had sustained a broken arm.

Mawaza is reported to have confessed to the rape when he was confronted, but denies the charge in court and the trial continues.

Food disappeared at Harare Mayor’s Installation

Food meant for the Harare Mayor’s installation after-party disappeared living invited guests to make do with the little food left. The council is reported to had slaughtered 10 cattle for the occasion.

So how could food for such a special occasion disappear?

The Herald reports that the disappearance of the food is being blamed on senior officials at Town House.

“How come there was more pork than beef? Council supplied beef but people were served pork only,” said one councillor.

Chamber secretary Mrs Josephine Ncube on Friday engaged senior managers from a local hotel that did the catering for the function after noticing the glaring drink and food shortages.

“You can call Mrs Ncube now (Friday night). She is in a meeting with staff from the hotel (name supplied). She wants to know where the meat went,” said one council official.

When is corruption going to end in Zimbabwe? ….specially in Harare City Council? Can we trust people who do such embarrassing things to lead the capital out of the current troubles? People who steal food meant for invited guests????

MDC MP Meki Makuyana gets 18 months jail term

A member of parliament for the Movement for Democratic Change (MDc) was sentenced to 18 months in prison, six of them suspended on Thursday after conviction on charges that he committed violence in the post-election period of 2008.

The MP for the Chipinge South constituency of Manicaland province in the House of Assembly Meki Makuyana, is the fourt MP from the MDC to be convicted and sentenced this year.

According to VOA News;

Mutare West MP Shuah Mudiwa was recently handed a seven year sentence for kidnapping.

Chipinge East member Mathias Mlambo got 10 months for committing public violence, and lawmaker Lynette Karenyi of Chimanimani West was found guilty of electoral fraud.

Karenyi, Mudiwa and Mlambo have appealed their convictions, and lawyers for Makuyana are also filing an appeal. The MDC issued a statement calling all the charges “trumped up.”

MDC Manicaland spokesman Pishai Muchauraya told reporter Jonga Kandemiiri of VOA’s Studio 7 for Zimbabwe that such convictions reflect an attempt by the former ruling ZANU-PF party and loyalists in the judiciary to whittle down the MDC’s House majority.

Is Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF party committed to this government of national unity? What is the Tsvangirai and the MDC doing about these arrests? Why is it that Zanu PF MPs are not being send to jail? Is there one law for the majority and another for Zanu PF members?
