Matsotsi haagerane – One of the great songs of advice from our motherland Zimbabwe

This is one of my favourite songs by the great singer song write Marko Sibanda. This guy knows how to mix humour and advice. I’m sure those who used to drink na Mukanya in Glen View 3 (mubhawa ma Munyeza never liked Munyarari kwakanga kuzere matsotsi)around 1998 will remember the guy who used to dance to this songs. He used to make quite a few dollars from his dancing I’m sure. Anywere the song is about Dhongi and his plan to get Mvura into trouble all because of his jealous.

Just to remind you:

“Zvakatanga na Dhongi, apo anzwa nyota……
ndokudzika kurwiza…dhuma dhuma na Mvuwu ari kunze kwe mvura
achi nhonga nhonga hake chikafu……”

Dhongi got jealous because Mvuwu anogara mumvura, achinwa mvura, achigeza ne mvura….Asi Dhongi achigeza ne madota.

So Dhongi took Mvuwu to the people’s maize fields and had him beaten up. Hanzi akarohwa zvekurohwa zviya, achibayiwa!

Vaviri vakadhumhana mumvura…..and because Dhongi could not swim, he asked mikoma wake mvuwu kuti amubereke kumusana………and when they got to the midle of the river it was payback time as Mvuwu decided to go under water.

So, what can we learn from this game between Dhongi na Mvuwu?

Dhongi had a sinister plot to get Mvuwu into trouble, but he two ended up in the water. Be careful what we wish for others, be careful about all the bad things you do to other people.

What goes around, comes around.

So, what do you think about Dhongi’s plot to get Mvuwu into trouble?

Do you still remember the other song by Marko Sibanda …..inoti muzukuru wachinja kapu sei?

Rudo Moto – Zimbabwean song with words of advice to all married women

Today I pay tribute to the late great Zimbabwean singer and song writer Marshal Munhumumwe. For those who remember the song “Rudo Moto” you can testify to the words of wisdom in this song and it’s advice to all the married women. Love is like a flame, it will soon die out if not looked after.

“Rudo moto, runoto kwinyidzirwa vana amai…
….musati zvamaroorwa imi moti hamuchageza.

Ko kuchena kwe humhandara makaisepiko mhayi?”

This part of the song reminds women that it is still important to look after themselves like they used to do before getting married. I wonder what Marshal had seen in married women. All the same grooming is still an important part in life, for both women and man.

Man make sure you provide for your woman. You want her to dress smart, sexy and all the stuff that goes with it? You better provide! You know the kind of stuff that turns your head around.

Rekindle your love flame, listen to the words of wisdom in the song “Rudo Moto” by the great Marshall Munhumumwe.

Can love songs bring back the fire in your marriage or love life? One think for sure is you get great advice.

What is your favourite Zimbabwean love song? Feel free to share a bit of lyrics to the song.

Words of advice to Tozivepi – Be careful when you go to Harare

Tozivepi – I regard this as one of the best and most informative songs to come out of Zimbabwe. Those who remember I’m sure they will agree with me. The song is about a parent giving advice to the son Tozivepi who was about to go to Harare in search of greener pastures (mafuro manyoro). During these days nobody talked about diaspora, life was in Harare.

Here is a bit of the lyrics from the song Tozivepi.

“Hona Tozivepi, mwanangu Tozivepi.
Ukaenda Harare, hona Tozivepi.
Ngwarira mwanangu, zvigashira vayeni.
Purezha yemo huchi hwe Gonera,
Purezha yemo huchi wegonera.

Kunakidzwa hakurambidzwe, kunoda vakashanda kare vane mariiiiii!
Purezha hairambidzwe, inoda vakashanda kare vane mariiii!

What do we learn from this song?

Wise words from the parent to the son about to go to Harare to look for employment. The advice is to be careful of the sweet and fast flowing life in the city, for if he is not careful Tozivepi will be swept away and consumed by the pleasures of Harare.

And today I believe this song applies very well to all those who have gone to the diaspora in search of a better life. Did you listen to what you parents told you before you left Zimbabwe going into the unknown?

How many of us have been consumed by the guilty pleasures of the Western World? There are so many cases of people who have lost it in the diaspora. If only they had listened to the kind of advice given to Tozivepi.

Do you remember this song Tozivepi? What do you think about the songs advice? What’s your favourite Zimbabwean song of advice>

JedWard – Good Riddance From The X Factor

At last the joke has ended! The X Factor judges have finally come to their senses and send those two annoying boys home. It’s a shame that over the weeks good singers have gone home whilst these boys remained on the show. Did the X Factor judges really want us to believe that Lloyd and these two twins are better singers than Jammie Archer???

This years X Factor has been a joke. Why can’t they get people who know music to judge this show??

X Factor is supposed to be a talent show, and tonight Jedward proved they do not have the X Factor.

Naked Madge unfit to be a mum

Pop star Madona has been described as an unfit mum. James Kambewa, the father of Mercy the little girl from Malawi that Madona is trying to adopt. Mr Kambewa says Madona “lack morals”, so according to him Madona will not be a fit mother for Mercy. James Kambewa has just launched a bid for full custody of the little girl.

Is Madge really unfit to be a mother????

Kambewa is reported to have told the Daily Mail: “Madona has millions of dollars but it doesn’t make here a good mum. She doesn’t portray good morals. How can a woman of 50 dance almost naked on stage? I wouldn’t want my daughter to grow up like that.”

James Kambewa who has never met Mercy says he wants to take DNA test to prove he is the father of Mercy. Mercy’s mother died five days after giving birth.

So, do you think Madona will be an unfit mum for Mercy? Feel free to share your views by posting your comments.
