Another medal for Zimbabwe’s Kirsty at the Beijing Olympics


Kirsty Coventry got Silver in the Women’s 100m Backstroke at the Beijing Olympics today.

It’s another Silver medal for Kirsty Coventry in the swimming pool and her second at Beijing Olympics 2008. But this time surely not we all expected….the ‘Golden Girl’ deserved Gold after that smashing performance in the semi-finals yesterday when she set a new world record.

Kirsty finished second to Natalie Coughlin of America who got the Gold medal. Kirsty was also competing in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley Semi-finals at the National Aquatics Centre on Day 4 of the Beijing Olympics.

Kirsty won her Heat in a time of 2:09:53 to set a new Olympic Record.

She’s a true ‘Golden Girl’, and we are Happy for her. Zimbabwe now has 2 Medals and number 21 on the overall Medal Standings at Beijing 2008, thanks to Kirsty Coventry.
