Kirsty Coventry flying the Zimbabwe flag at the Beijing Olympics

>> 09 August 2008

Day 1 at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, Zimbabwe's Kirsty Coventry was in action swimming in the woman's 400m individual medley heat at the swimming competitions in the National Aquatics Centre.

Kirsty swam the seventh fastest time in the event. The finals of the individual medley event will be on tomorrow Sunday.

Good luck to Kirsty and hopefully she will get medal tomorrow. Nineteen-year-old Katie Hoff from America is the one to beat in this event.

Kirsty will also be competing in the women's 100m backstroke on Sunday, she won silver in the same event at the Athens Olympics in Greece.

What is with the swimmer being listed as Coventry and not Zimbabwe? Is she swimming for herself? Do we have individual entries now?

Igrein......Did not get what you meant there, The Girls name is Kirsty Coventry if that's what you are talking about.

On the Beijing Olympics medals tables, Zimbabwe is listed with one silver medal which Kirsty won on Sunday.
