>> 31 May 2008
Using an old trick, you would think no one would fall for it. But this group of Nigerians has managed to steal millions from unsuspecting British nationals. Spanish police arrested 55 Nigerians in swoops on more than 60 premises in Malaga, Spain.
Victims get letters saying they have won prizes in Spanish lottery. This was followed by demands for cash to cover administrative charges. Victims suffered loses ranging from £640 to £720 000.
Do not fall for this fraud. If it's too good to be true, then it's not true. Plus you never win the lottery if you do not buy the ticket.
Besides this lottery con, ran by these fraudsters in Spain. Sometimes these Nigerians send you emails where they promise to give you a big some of money if you facilitate the transfer of their big sums of money held in some trust account somewhere in Africa.
This is just a trick to get your bank details and steal your money. Beware of identity fraud, which is now common in the UK. It's always nice to know what's in your credit report, this will help you find out if someone is using your name and details.

One of the victims of these Nigerian fraudster was a disabled pensioner who was swindled out of £100 000 life savings in the lottery scam. He was so convinced he had won a £1.3 million jackpot and he took out bank loans to make some of the payments.
Always remember if it's too good to be true. Then chances are it's not true.
