The rise of the giants of Zimbabwe football

>> 31 December 2007

For years Dynamos FC have been the mainstay of Zimbabwean football. They are the most successful club and with their millions of supporters, they are the most popular of all the teams in the Zimbabwean league. For the past few years Dynamos football club had been playing second best to Highlanders FC, the former champions from the southern town of Bulawayo. 2007 saw the rise to the top by the fallen Harare giants and they won the domestic league and cup double. Their main rivals and city neighbours CAPS have hit hard times.

All the good and the bad of Zimbabwe football can be found at Dynamos FC. From the highly talented footballer to the most corrupt football administrators.

Being a community team formed out of Harare ghettos, Dynamos had a never ending supply of talent from the suburbs. It was a dream of every kid to play for them and follow the steps of great players like, Moses Chunga, George Shaya, David Mandigora, Tauya Mrewa and many other former players.

With all the great players, the club had a legacy of supplying the bulk of the best players to the Zimbabwe warriors (national team).
Dynamos is known to set the standard of good football, hence they are always the team to beat. There is a big rivalry between Dynamos and their smaller city neighbours CAPS FC, the big rivalry has seen many clashes between the two sets of supporters over the years. There is always pressure for the team to win and sometimes their supporters do not know how to deal with losing games and resort to violence.

As a community team, formed out of the ghetto with no major owner, the team relies on corporate sponsorship. Dynamos is a cash cow in Zimbabwe football. They generate the most revenue due to their large support base.
The perennial leadership wrangles at the club do not help the image of the club. There are reports of corruption and mismanagement every year at the club. Different factions fighting for the control of this big cash machine. Even ticket sellers know it's a big pay day if Dynamos is playing. There have been many cases of money being stolen through ticket sales, fake tickets have also been a common occurrence when Dynamos is involved. It seems everyone is after a piece of this big cake.

In some cases some have used the club to further their own political ambitions, taking advantage of the clubs huge support base.

Player unrest is another problem at Dynamos, corrupt management officials help themselves to the team's money without much concern for the players.

Supporters of other teams may not agree but Dynamos do set the standard in Zimbabwe football. They are the most supported team and generate the most revenue. Wish them luck in their next African Champions league adventures.

The traditional sperm donor - Helping childless couples

>> 30 December 2007

For whatever reason, failure to bear children is one of the most difficult and stressful situations to be in. It becomes even more difficult for the wife if she can not conceive because traditionally she is to blame if she can not bear children for her husband. After all the husband paid all that lobola (bride price) so she can bear him children.

Couples go through a lot of pain and stress because of pressure from relatives if they can not have children. It does not matter to the relatives that it's not within their control. If the wife can not bear children for the husband, then there will be no peace, always trouble with the in laws. Only a few can accept that the husband can fail to bear children.
However there was also a secret tradition of using a sperm donor if the husband could not bear children. Even the husband was not supposed to know of this arrangement by his family to use a sperm donor.

Traditionally in the case when the husband's family acknowledge that their own son could not bear children, then it was the responsibility of the chosen few elders to convene a meeting and arrange for a suitable sperm donor to use.
The system was very much different from the western culture type of sperm donor where one can go to the different sperm banks and hospitals:

Traditionally it was mostly the husband's own young brother who would be chosen to bear children for him. It was so secret even the husband was not supposed to know that his own brother is sleeping with his wife. He was never supposed to know that himself can not bear children. It was just proper for family relations since no one could approve of someone sleeping with his wife, even your own brother.
Not even the young brother was allowed to say anything about it. He was not even supposed to have a love relationship with his brother's wife. His duty was just to bear children for the brother.

Unlike in the Western world, only the husband's brother could bear children for him. This meant the blood line of the family continues, and again the children will have the same totem (mutupo). With the western system you can end up with five children all with different totems. Totems embody the unification, collective pride and aspirations of a clan and it's ancestry.
There are major complications that can arise between our culture and the use of the modern sperm banks, regarding the social identity of a clan.

The young brother was still expected to get married and have his own family. It was not his responsibility to look after his 'brother's' children.

So was this a better way of helping couples to have children? I guess during those times the system was working very well in families. Does it work in this current world we are living in?

How I nearly killed myself this Christmas

>> 28 December 2007

This seems to be a recipe of how not to enjoy Christmas. It was all fun when it started on the 24th of December, well planned and promising start to the Christmas holidays. As always there was plenty of food and drinks, the presents were wrapped and under the Christmas tree. It started with the first leg of the Christmas party at my place with friends and family around. I started with a bit of whisky and nearly 20 pints of beer on the first night, and that marked the beginning of my three days of binge drinking.

I only had a few hours sleep early morning on Christmas day, before beer drinking continued again at one of my relatives place. I can not believe I drank more than 20cans of beer again on this day. It all seemed like it was never going to end.

This led me to my near fatal fall from upstairs in the morning on boxing day. Thank God I did not have any broken bones from that fall. As if I was possessed. As if I had forgotten that I have a family and a special son to look after. As if I had forgotten that there is life after Christmas. I found myself drinking more beer again in the afternoon despite that terrible fall in the morning.

Now I'm back to my senses, still trying to recover from the after effects of binge drinking and over eating this Christmas. Over eating and drinking too much beer is not the way to celebrate Christmas, I nearly killed myself this Christmas.

Now it's back to work, will give myself a few days to recover and hopefully I have learnt my lesson, on how not to celebrate Christmas. I'm I looking forward to the New Year celebrations? Yeah!! why not? I think I learnt my lesson.

The Price for making my daughter pregnant outside marriage

>> 20 December 2007

It is a well known tradition that before you even think of making some one's daughter pregnant you should pay lobola (bride price/dowry) for her. If for whatever reason that one decides not to follow this old age tradition then a fine must be paid by the would be son in law. By the way, the fine is for being in contempt of court (kuzvidza Dare).

It has always been recognised that getting married first before starting a family shows respect for the in Laws.

So how do we charge these damages? This is entirely up to the girl's family, and may not be negotiable. By the way it's supposed to be a punishment for being a naughty boy. The cost will also be determined by the girls social status, the higher the level of education the higher the price. If she is employed you also pay higher because you are likely to use some of her money.

Damages will not be part of the bride price. You may also have to pay more again depending with the social standing of the girl. Whether this is a fair system, I don't know, I guess like a court it may not be fair depending on which side of the law you are on.

For those who don't know our tradition, like our foreign son in laws. I'm sorry but ignorance of the law has no defence, after all the girl knows how it should be done.

There is another issue of single mothers, the law is still the same. You should get married first, I know there are some people who think this is wrong, but I tell you there is nothing wrong here. Kuzvidza Dare kuzvidza Dare chete (you are still in contempt of court). It does not matter even if someone has paid damages for her before.

After we have finished the whole process of paying Lobola and formalising the relationship, you now become my son in law.
We can even go to the township, where I will expect you to buy me beer. Not masese (opaque beer), how can I drink that after my daughter/sister has just been married.
Remember that old saying, mukuwasha muwonde hauperi kudyiwa ende hukama igasva huno zadziswa nekudya.

This is all meant to make you a good son in law, to all you my brothers still to get married, it's expensive these days. Now you even pay in foreign currency if you stay outside the country. You can not lie because you skin and your actions will betray you.

Do you think I will make a good father in law? you are right I will.

Zimbabwe introduces new $750 000 bank note

In an effort to end the current cash crisis affecting the country, Zimbabwe's central bank has introduced new higher denomination bank notes. In a televised speech governor Gideon Gono announced that the $200 000 bill, currently the highest value note and equivalent to $6.60 US at the official rate and $0.12 US at the widely used black market will be phased out by January one. The new notes will start circulating Thursday. The cash shortage had seen some people sleeping outside banks in the hunt foe cash.

The reserve bank governor has always blamed the cash crisis on dealers hoarding cash. However it seems there was just no enough notes in circulation. Banks were giving out a maximum of $5 million cash per person and considering how many people were withdrawing money everyday. It shows there was just not enough notes in circulation given that there is no foreign currency to buy the paper to print money.

Are arranged marriages the new trend?

>> 17 December 2007

An arranged marriage is a marriage arranged by someone other than the persons getting married, curtailing or avoiding the process of courtship. There are different reasons why arranged marriages are done, and also how different socities view the concerpt of arranged marriages.

Some years back the concerpt of arranged marriages was a bit common in Zimbabwe. However with the passage of time with people learning new cultural values and the general quality of life improved, the concerpt was no longer as prominent. But do we see signs of arranged marriages coming back?

There are different types of arranged marriages;

Traditial arranged marriage: There is no courtship in this type of marriage. The parents or matchmaker select the pair. These can be agreed at the first meeting. This was very common long back in Zimbabwe. Do we see it coming back today, yes a lot has happened to our country which may force people into these types of relationships.

Morden arranged marriage: In this case several candidates are chosen, courtship is curtailed or absent. There is no much pressure to agree first time. This seems to be a bit more common now with the use of match making sites.

Introductions only: The son or daughter is introduced to the potential spouse. The children are left to develop their relationship. There is no pressure put on them and there are no time limits to marry. I have had cases of these arrangements very often. These days mostly involving Zimbabweans in foreign countries and those back home. There are different reasons for doing this.

Factors considered in arranged marriages include:

- Reputation of the family, if a family has got a high standing in the community families would prefer their daughter or son to get married in that family.

- The type of profession, level of education and employment status also plays a major part in influencing the family's decision.

- Religion and Wealth, most families would prefer their daughter to be married into a wealth family. Now with a lot of Zimbabweans outside the country, and the worsening economy people will be even looking for their daughters to be married in wealth families. Foregn currency dominates people's lives these days. Some now charge lobola money in foreign currency and even charging cars and cell phones. Gerri at Living Zimbabwe, wrote an article on how people charge these bride prices in Zimbabwe.

- Immigration, families living in foreign countries may prefer their son to get married to someone from their home country. Immigrating to wersten countries has influenced people in different ways. I have talked to some guys who feel they can not get the right type of girls from Zimbabwe in the foregn countries they are living now. Most of the traditional values of how husband and wife relate are no longer there, ever since the concerpt of equal rights came.

It is also common that after a certain age one is expected to get married. If one is not married this may cause problems in the family and mostly women are at a disadvantage because of how the traditional society views them after a certain age without beign married. We also have cases of single mothers or fthers who may also find it difficult to get a partner for different reasons. The concerpt of arranged marriages may work for them.

However even though there are arguments for arranged marriages, the negatives are in the case of child marriages and forced marriages were family and social interests are far more important than that of the daughter or son. What is important is love between the pair and what the future holds for them.

Wehther an arranged marriage for someone living in Zimbabwe and another in a foreign country works, depends on a lot of factors. Hopefully all those in relationships like that will succeed and have happy families.

War veterans leader barred from addressing ZANU-PF congress

From Harare Zimbabwe,

War veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda, must have been embarrassed at the recently held ZANU Pf extraordinary congress in Harare, when President Mugabe had to intervene to stop him from addressing the congress.

Remember Sibanda is the same guy who was leading the organising of the one million man and women march in Harare last month. Sibanda was not allowed to address the conference because he is still suspended from the party.

"Musango wakarwa hondo, waive netsika unoita hovhiyo yakadayi taakupedza? Ma wa veterans tinovapa rukudzo rwaka komba, (but) war veterans must be disciplined". said president Mugabe when he was forced to intervene.

These war veterans are really a troublesome lot who seem to think they are above everyone else and above the law.

After running around in Harare during that march, Sibanda must have been seeing bigger things as the elections approach.

Reality stinks

Who is your role model?

>> 14 December 2007

The term role model was introduced by Robert K Merton. Merton say that individuals compare themselves with "reference groups" full of people who occupy the social role to which the individual aspires. The term passed into general use to mean an "person who serves as an example of a positive behavior". (wikipedia)

Your destiny in life is determined by the various decisions you make, the goals you set for yourself and also how you plan to achieve those goals. Your role models determine the path you take and also some of the different actions and decisions at different stages in life. You may look up to people like Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, Bill Gates, Michael Jordan, David Beckham, Econet wireless boss Strive Masiyiwa, Joshua Nkomo, Anthony Robins etc. There are all different reasons, but the bottom line is what they have contributed to society and how you view and value their contribution is a major factor.

If we look at the kids growing up in our community today, who do they look up to as their role models. What do they want to do when they grow up? Are there any role models in the country today? Long back teachers, nurses and members of the police force were well respected members of the community and many youngsters would look forward to join those professions. But as of today who would want to be a teacher when they grow up.

It reminds about the joke of the little girl who picked up a piece of paper in the house? The girl went up to her father and said, "Dad did you see how low our electricity bill for this month is". The father just sat down crying because that was his pay slip, how embarrassing and what if he was a teacher. Do you think he told the little girl that it was actually his payslip.

The world today is growing as a global village, we all look up to different people from different parts of world. Like for myself my interest is Internet, online business and marketing. Everything I do, there are successful Internet marketers who inspire me. This means I tried to model my works around their successful strategies, which already are giving me rewards. Anyone can make a living of the Internet if you know what you are doing and you seek the right guidance.

Christmas in Zimbabwe

>> 13 December 2007

A few weeks ago I started getting myself ready for Christmas. It has not been easy considering the costs involved. I had to buy some stuff for my family back in Zimbabwe. The problem is what to send them, they would want clothes from UK and other accessories. But there is a severe food shortage in Zimbabwe, the supermarkets shelves are empty, so now I have to send food also. It's not easy sending food items all the way to Zimbabwe.

The problem with sending goods over a long distance to Zimbabwe, is the shipping costs involved. I have had to deal with some cargo shipping company costing me about £180.00. The deal seems to be good in that I can put as much stuff as I can in the packaging they supply, it does not matter what I'm sending.

The other advantage is I do not have to pay duty in Zimbabwe. This is a major plus since our government has decided to charge duty in US dollars. It is a lot of money to pay considering how much you have spend already buying your goods and also shipping costs.

We may consider buying things back home, even though it may be a preferable and cheaper option, there is nothing in the shops. The supermarket shelves are empty. Wonder what they are going to do with those supermarrket buildings.

So what sort of Christmas are they going to have back home, whilst some feast on those extra big GMO turkeys, buy one get one free products from tesco, extra cheap beer, wine, whisky and even cigarates which you can not get in Zimbabwe? It used to be funny and everyone would look forward to Christmas and really enjoy it. I remember my grandfather would kill at least a cattle every holiday. So there was plenty to eat for everyone.

Christmas was time to get new clothes, I remember one time I got new school uniforms Christmas time so I ended up wearing my new school uniform on Christmas day. At least I had new clothes. Being that very young new clothes and food was all that mattered.

Christmas was a time to eat plenty food, bread with butter and sun jam, chicken and rice and plenty drinks (ma cokes)coca cola, fanta plus Tarino, with family. After the family feast then came the time to go to the townships, there was a lot of dancing here. The village people can dance and those from town will be showing off there skills too.

We would buy sweets(1c for 2), biscuits and even more drinks plus loaf of bread. It was a real feast. Wish I could turn back the years.

Those days the fathers would have plenty money around Christmas time. They would keep their bonus so we could enjoy together as a family. That is if the father did not fall for the clever women, they used to be very loving around this time. They surely new how to get what they wanted.

Today I don't know if they are even looking forward to Christmas. The economy is so bad, there is no money and even if you had the money there is nothing to buy. Even if you find something to buy, you need a sack load of notes.

Lets not forget our loving ones and families this Christmas. It is time for giving.

Merry Christmas

Money transfers to Zimbabwe - Don't lose your money

>> 11 December 2007

Over the past few years Zimbabwe has suffered from severe foreign currency shortages, and because of the continued use of the controlled exchange rate system by the government there has been an increase in foreign currency dealers. Their business flourish because they offer a very high exchange rate which is probably the actual valuation of the Zimbabwean dollar compared to other currencies.

A lot of people have lost money through dealing with these black market foreign currency traders because of the lure of the high exchange rate. Always remember if it's too good to be true, probably it is.

Recently we have had of instances where the black market dealers are requesting more personal details of the sender than they were doing before. I know it's true when you use the formal channels, like banks, Western Union and other money transfer agencies you still provide them with this information.

But these agencies are registered, in the case of UK you know they are regulated by the Financial Service Authority. In the invent of any dispute you know the agency has to adhere to certain set rules and guidelines to resolve the dispute. On their paper work it shows how they use your personal information. They have terms and conditions which you are directed to. Where as most of these black market traders, are not registered, some do not even have written policies and procedures. They end up sending you unsolicited junk mail promotions for their other business dealings.

Many people have lost their money to the black market foreign currency traders, because there is no way of tracking the dealers. Most people do not even have a clue of the physical address of the people they use to change money. Hence the dealer can just change phone numbers, which in most cases is a mobile phone number, and you lose your hard earned money.

However there is an advantage in using these black market forex dealers, in the case of Zimbabwe. Surely who would want to change their hard earned currency through the bank at those ridiculously low exchange rates? Who would want to use Home link services to send money as well because of the rate they offer. You will always look of the high exchange rate, however you just have to be careful.

Do not lose your hard earned money always use reputable forex dealers, shop around first before depositing your money and always make sure to keep your paper work until everything is sorted.

Have you had any of these stories of people losing money, have you lost money yourself? Your comments are welcome

Shopping from Zimbabwean internet stores

>> 10 December 2007

The severe shortage of goods in Zimbabwe has seen an increase in the number of online grocery stores targetting Zimbabweans in the diaspora. They sale different goods, from groceries, electric generators, satelite TV, petrol and disiel, paraffin and also solar pannels.

High inflation rate and the continuos fall in the value of the Zimbabwean dollar has affected the profitabilty of supermarkets faced with government price controls. Most of these online stores sell locally made goods and they charge in foregn currencym mainly US dollars and British pound.

However there are advantages and also problems to be encountered in dealing with these online stores. It is very important to know how to shop online safely and also how to choose which online shops to use.

Online shops provide a valuable service given the severe shortage of goods in Zimbabwe. Over the yaers Zimbabweans have left the country and now live in different countries all over the world, and most families in Zimbabwe rely on people in the diaspora.
Online shops take out the hasle of queing at the shops where goods are available.

However one need to be carefull when dealing with these online stores. If you don't know an online retailer by reputation, before you enter your card details and personal information you need to:

- Do back ground check, check physical address or call to talk to a company representative.
- Explore the site for third party seals of approval, this means they abide by a set of rigorous standards such as how complaints and disputes will be resolved and also how they use your personal information. Even with the seals click to see if they link to the site. Some unscrupulous dealers may use these seals to cheat buyers. You may also need to find out what other shoppers are saying.
- Review shipping methods and policies, carriers they use, shipping rates and where they ship from.
- Before you enter your card details the company should only require information necessary to complete the purchase.

There is also a danger of buying goods that will not be delivered or goods which do not meet discription, so it is important to carry out checks so that so do not lose out. The families back home may also get delivery of damaged goods or maybe goods neear or out of date. This is one disadvatage of shooping online because your do not get to check the goods before they are delivered. Because of the desperation caused by the shortage of goods back in Zimbabwe probably the people may not check the quality of the goods delivered. That's why it is important to deal with people with a good reputation.

Word of mouth from friends and family, is the most trusted source of information. It is important to trust your instincts, if it's too good to be true probably it is.

Feel free to share your online shooping experiences from these online shops here. Do you have any particular shop you would recommend, did you get a bad deal from any of these shops. Your contribution may help somebody out there.

Are US sanctions on Mugabe helping Zimbabweans

"The US government will impose travel and financial sanctions on about 40 more people with ties to Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe after the escalated use of violence to crack down on dissent within the country", said US official Jendayi Frazer.

Are these sanctions necessary and do they work? If they are supposed to benefit somebody, who benefits from these sanctions? If they are meant to make someone suffer, who is suffering from these sanctions? All Zimbabweans want is a better way of living.

These US sanctions have surely done more harm to the country than the benefits they were supposed to bring if at all there were any. The country's image has been tarnished, of cause there maybe other factors contributing. But with all this talk about sanctions on the leaders of the country, all the international community gets is a negative picture the country.
No meaningful economic development will take place especially in this current environment. Investors will not want to come to the country.

I admit there are other problems within the country contributing to the current state of things, but the major problem is economic decline. Do these sanctions help improve the state of the economy?

For years now, we have had these sanctions but they do not seem to be helping the country either. We have had economic problems for years now, and a lot of factors including management decisions, both locally and internationally have affected the state of our economy. We have also had poor rainfall pattens which have adversely affected our agriculture based economy.

Now we have Zimbabwean asylum seekers being deported back home, were supposedly they face risk of persecution. If it makes sense to keep these sanctions, one would think Zimbabweans should not be deported back home. A lot of Zimbabweans have left the country since the late 90's because of the economic situation. This is the major problem affecting Zimbabwe today.
One would want to live where you can get the basic necessities, not for free, not benefits but you are working for them.

Business man arrested for using bank notes as cards

A zimbabwean man has been arrested for using (10 cent)bank notes as business cards. Denis Paul a proffesional hunter and lodge owner from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second largest city was arrested on charges of defacing bank notes. He faces a fine or upto a year in prison.
Why he needed to bring these notes to London, I find it difficult to understand. These notes are valueless, current exchange rate is £1 - $8 million Zimbabwean dollars, so there is no need to carry these 10 cent notes anymore.

He is quoted in the state paper, The Herald as saying that he stamped his business details on 100, 10cent bearer cheaques for distribution at the World Tourism Market Fair in London last month because he had left without his usual business cards.

I guess these maybe the same notes the reserve bank governor was complaining about a few weeks ago, when he announced that he wants to change the local currency. What ever the motive for using the bank notes as business cards, the truth is those pieces of paper are not worth anything. With the exchange rate at £1 - ZW$8 million. Who would want a 10 cent bearer cheque.

Actually this man might have been giving out cheap business cards which may not be good for his business image.
But surely why did this guy bring valueless bearer cheques all the way from Zimbabwe to London. No one would even accept to change those 10 cent notes if he intended to. Why is he still moving around with those valueless notes. To buy a killogram of beef you need $6 million Zimbabwean dollars.

Even though he may say he did not mean to tarnish the already battered image of the country, I find it difficult to understand why? He is still moving around with 10 cent bearer cheques, especially in London.

Was Gordon Brown right to boycot the EU-Africa summit

The president of the European Union Mr Jose Manuel Barroso, said " World leaders must be prepared to deal with dictators 'your mother would not like you to meet". So was Gordon Brown right not to attend the summit because Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe was invited?
Was it not in Britain's best interest for Mr Brown to attend? Did his absence help the Zimbabwean cause in anyway? Surely the summit was about EU and Africa Union of which Zimbabwe is part of the problems that maybe addressed at these meetings.

Did Britain stand to benefit in anyway, if Mr Brown had attended the summit. Surely Britain owes it to it's European Union members to be part of these meetings. The problem if there is any, is between Britain and the current EU president who invited Robert Mugabe to the summit.

Because of what has been happening in Zimbabwe for the past few years. The current state of the economy because of mismanagement and different problems faced by the people, many people believe Robert Mugabe should not attend this summit. But if he is not attending the summit because of the travel sanctions imposed on him, who will be there to represent Zimbabwe? The country is part of the African Union isn't it?

Isolating Zimbabwe this way I do not think will help the country, neither does it help the long suffering people of Zimbabwe. Now Zimbabweans are scattered all over the world, running away from their own country. They deserve all the help they can get from international community. Isolation in this way I don't think it will help.

This is an opportunity for Zimbabwe to be in the sport light again. Any media exposure of the Zimbabwean crisis, I think is better for the country.

UK to deport failed asylum seekers to Zimbabwe

>> 05 December 2007

After the passing of a judgement which said not everyone deported to Zimbabwe was at risk of persecution, the British government announced that it was to resume deportations to the southern African country.

It is a sad situation really for most Zimbabwean asylum seekers who had hopped for a better life away from all the economic troubles affecting our country. It is a sad story back home, there has been no electricity for two weeks now in some parts of Harare.

The British government had stopped deporting Zimbabweans pending a case that was in the courts to prove if it was safe to send Zimbabweans back home. However some Zimbabweans who came to UK through other countries, mostly Malawi were being deported to Malawi even though they are not Malawians. This just show the desperation Zimbabweans are to get out of the country.

However it has been claimed some were causing trouble when on the plane so that they are not deported. The pilots will just refuse to fly with them on board because they are considered a risk. We may blame them foe the delay they cause to other passengers, but surely if they are deported to Malawi where do they go from there? They are not Malawians, they have no families or relatives there? It was just the desperation to get out of their own country Zimbabwe that caused them to resort to desperate measures.

Would you blame them for refusing to go back to Zimbabwe? Even though some may not be at risk of persecution from who ever they fear, the biggest problem is the economic situation. If you are deported, you are forced into a standard of life which is well below what you have been used to.

There is no fuel, no food in the shops, no electricity, no cash in the banks, supermarket shelves are empty. There is also a very high rate of unemployment and if you are lucky enough to get a job, you can not even live on your monthly salary for one week.

Surely with the current economic situation, it's not the best time to send people to Zimbabwe. Most are working very hard here, helping their families and friends back home to have a better life. Surely the situation would be worse without the help of all the Zimbabweans in foreign countries.

Pomegranate juice is natural Viagra

>> 01 December 2007

Fellas needing a boost in the bedroom are being told to try POMEGRANATE juice. A daily glass can act like Viagra, new research shows.

We have always known that there are so many natural herbs and fruits that are as good as Viagra or maybe better. Especially in Zimbabwe where we have different types of these herbs to improve your sexual life.

Now we have pomegranate juice, nearly half the men who drank it for a month in the American study said they found it easier to rise to the occasion. It is thought the juice is rich in antioxidants which increase blood supply to the tackle.

Just like drugs for importance, the antioxidants raise levels of nitric oxide, which relaxes blood-vessel walls.
Researcher Dr Christopher Forest, of the University of California in Los Angeles, said "Pomegranate juice has great potential in the management of erectile dysfunction."

Pomegranate have already been hailed a super fruit capable of reducing the risk of heart disease and preventing prostate cancer. The fruit is believed to have more antioxidants than any other juice, tea or red wine.
