Zimbabwe's war veterans one million men march

>> 30 November 2007

The Zimbabwe war veterans and other people buses from all over the country marched in the streets of Harare today, in support of president Mugabe's candidature in the elections next year. What a real waste of resources, in a country whose economy is on it's knees and a starving population.

This was a real waste of resources, there was no reason for this march. These people should have been doing something back home in their villages or where ever they came from. If they wanted to much they could have done that in their respective provinces instead of coming to Harare.

The government wasted fuel carrying these people to Harare, and they will be lucky if they get something to eat. You would think they will learn but know, next time they are asked they will be back again. Or for the unfortunate ones they will be forced.

These people want everyone to believe what they think is right. We judge the leaders according to their performance. How well they are managing the economy. Is the economy growing? NO. There is no fuel, no electricity, there is no cash in banks and not even beer in pubs. Surely people will not march in support of such an economy!

Now the Finance minister is talking about a $7 840 trillion budget. Are you serious comrade, you still want to march.

Zimbabwe to change currency next week

According to an article in the Independent newspaper, Zimbabwe is going to change it's currency in the first week of December. With the process expected to begin as early as tomorrow.

Zimbabweans have been suffering from a severe cash crisis which the reserve bank Governor blamed on people who are hoarding cash. In an operation code named sunrise 2 he announced the plans to change the currency which was going to be effected without warning.

Over the past few years the economy has suffered a massive decline, due to corruption in different sectors of the economy, mismanagement and also outside forces.
High inflation has also seen the workers feeling the pain, their disposable incomes is not worth talking about. Most of the workers can not even afford transport costs, and even to feed their families. It's not worth going to work any more in Zimbabwe.

The introduction of the new currency is meant to easy the cash shortages, which will be welcome especially during this festive season. However most of the workers do not earn that much. They will still not have any disposable income. Even those who will get the money there is nothing to buy in the shops.

It never rains.........forever suffering.

ZANU-PF Supporters One Million people march

>> 29 November 2007

Preparations for tomorrow's one million men march in Harare, in support of President Mugabe's candidature are at an advanced stage. With marchers expected from all 10 provinces of the country, the Herald reported.

National Railways of Zimbabwe, Bus companies and lorries will be used to ferry people from different provinces into Harare. No wonder why this country is in such an economic mess.
National railways is a company on it's knees, if it still got knees. For a company always operating at a loss, then why use the few resources it has got left to carry these people for free. It is under any obligation to carry these people to Harare.

The same applies to the different bus companies which are going to carry these people into Harare, and also the lorries. Where are they going to get diesel, everyone knows there is a shortage of fuel in Zimbabwe. Now the little fuel we have is going to be used to carry these people into Harare to march. Do people need to come to Harare to march to show their support for the president. If they like the president they will vote for him, period.
Why not use the fuel to make people's journeys to work easier.

Why not let everyone coming to Harare for the one million march pay for their own travel expenses? They should provide their own transport, that way they will really show us that they support the president. They just want to cause problems in Harare.

Surely these people will go back to their starving families empty handed, hungry and miserable after the march.
Given that it's the farming season, these people should just get on with their work.

Instead of scarring the people in Harare, these war veterans should stay in their different provinces and march their if they want to march.

Zimbabwe set for tourist influx

Zimbabwe is bracing for a tourist influx. Zimbabwe hotels and tour operators might fail to accomodate all the tourists from the far east after the troubled country was declared 'a must visit' destination by the Chinese Tourism Authority.

If the tourist from the far east do come, tat will be a massive boost to our trouble economy. It's in real need of that kick start that will boost the foreign currency reserves. Shortage of foreign currency has been one of the major problems facing the country.

However the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority will need to make sure that, the facilities are at acceptable top quality standards. Promote the country's image through different initiatives to attract tourists to Zimbabwe.

Their maybe other actors working against the Tourism Authority's efforts to improve the country's image, but they need to do a lot more. They need to come up with incentives which will make Zimbabwe an attractive destination. With the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, there is need to do more in this tourism sector.

Zimbabwe has got it's economic problems but there is no security threat to tourists. It's safe to visit Zimbabwe. Tourists from different countries visit some countries poorer than Zimbabwe, so our economic situation should not really stop tourists from visiting Zimbabwe.

President Mugabe confirms that he is attending the EU-Africa summit

>> 28 November 2007

Our President Cde Robert G Mugabe has confirmed that he will be attending the EU-Africa Union summit in Portugal. Should he or should he not attend, I think he should attend.

For the simple reason that he is a leader of an Africa country, Zimbabwe. If he does not attend then who is going to represent Zimbabwe? Is Zimbabwe not a member of the African Union. If Zimbabwe is going to benefit from the summit then we ought to be represented.

Plus the President was invited to the summit, wasn't he? The summit is also not about Zimbabwe, even though issues relating to it will be discussed at the summit. That's what the summit is for. Building better relations between Africa and Europe.

I agree we need to address the problems affecting Zimbabwe, but can this be achieved through isolating the country.
Can we be represented by Tsvangirai at this summit? NO, he is not the President and I doubt if he still got much to offer to the country.

So it is in the best interest of the country for the President to attend the summit, whether Gordon Brown attends or not.

New Zimbabwe Currency - What For?

The Reserve Bank governor announced that the change is imminet and this time it's going to be more than he did last year. I find it difficult to understand whether it's going to work this time.

Last July, the governer chopped of three zeros from the currency and nothing worked. The economic situation is now even worse. So what now Zimbabwe? Is this change in currency and chopping off zeros going to help? Or maybe the governor should just resign, he has failed.

It's so painful, embarassing and it makes one feel sad to be Zimbabwean at this time. Nothing seems to be working, everything is going wrong in the country.

No fuel, no electricity, no food, no bank notes everything is out of stock.

Surely the Reserve Bank governor can not fool anyone, he should just go. It's going to be a sad ferstive season in Zimbabwe. God help us.

He caught his wife in bed with another man

>> 27 November 2007

He had been suspecting that his wife was cheating. So,he planned a dummy trip and returned suddenly, arriving home unexpectedly. He came in a special after midnight taxi and asked the driver to accompany him into the house to be a witness.

For the price of R100,000 the special hire driver accepted and followed him
stealthily into the house. Brandishing a pistol, the husband tiptoed into the bedroom with the driver in tow.
They entered the bedroom and as the husband switched on the lights, the driver yanked the blanket back and there they were. The wife was in bed with another man.

The husband put a gun to the naked man's head as the wife shouted, don't do it! This man has been very generous to us! I lied when I told you I inherited money. He is the one who paid for the Prado I bought for you.
He paid for this house we now own, he gave me the money we owed the bank and he pays for all the tickets we use for theatre.

He also pays our children's school fees and even for that suit and the others you wear. He even pays our monthly dues! Shaking in disbelief, the husband slowly lowered the gun, looked over at the taxi driver and asked, ‘What would you do if it were you?’

The driver said, cover him up with that blanket before he catches a cold.

Spread the humour, how do you rate this?

Dynamos FC wins League Title as Highlanders is humiliated

>> 26 November 2007

Dynamos won the completed the league and cup double when they beat Shooting Stars 2-0 as Highlanders lost 1-0 to Monomatapa in Bulawayo.

Dynamos returned to where they belong in Zimbabwean football, right at the top. The champions overcame problems of the field to beat Shooting Stars 2-0. Highlanders lost to Monomatapa in Bulawayo living them with no chance to catch up with Dynamos.

This was a job well done, Dynamos makes us proud. As for Highlanders, better lucky next time you lost the title to a better team. If it was not for the perennial off the field problems which seem to affect Dynamos no other team will be able to match their achievements.

As for CAPS, once again they are where they belong. They are a mid-table team even though their supporters will not agree. They are still a small team.

You deserve to be Champions DeMbare, lest go and conquer Africa...

It was a great show by Thomas Mapfumo 'Mukanya'

>> 25 November 2007

Thomas Mapfumo has always been the best performer out of Zimbabwe. He will always be the best. What a great show last night at Rex, Stratford. After the disappointment of the last show by Oliver Mtukudzi and the Soul Brothers last time, this was money well spent.

Besides the slight problems with the sound system which they managed to fix but the promoter could have done it a bit better, this was as good as these shows can be in terms of Thomas Mapfumo's performance. The Blacks Unlimited have changed from those old days in Zimbabwe. Now they have quite a few white brothers in the band but the sound has not changed much, the guys know their stuff. I did enjoy this show.

I nearly missed this show because of my experience at the Soul Brothers and Oliver Mtukudzi show. This was such a rubbish show and I had promised myself never to go for these Zimbabwean shows again.

If you managed to get to the show how did you find it?

On the death of Ian Smith - Former Rhodesia Prime Minister

Well, it was sad to hear that Ian Douglas Smith the former Prime Minister of Rhodesia passed away. Besides all he did during his time in power may his soul rest in peace. He was not the favourite of the Zimbabwean people, he may still not be to others even in his grave. Sometimes it's difficult to forgive and forget.

Ian Smith was not the best thing to happen to our country, Zimbabwe. He believed the country belonged to the white people only, which is difficult to understand why? Probably it was because of all the good living in a country with all those resources and the lovely weather.

He believed that there will never be any black rule in Zimbabwe as long as he lived, but well he lived long enough to see the black rule and be ruled by the blacks. He is the many who introduced whites only places in our country Zimbabwe. He even went to war because he did not want to give up this country.

But besides all that happened during those times, people had something to eat. Atleast people new it was war time, compared to now when people suffer in an independent Zimbabwe. There is no fuel, no cash in the banks, no food, no electricity. What sort of country is this?

Zimbabwean Mice Pay The Price For Beef Shortages!

It's not funny at all, this is about survival and satisfying your cravings! The shortage of meat is now causing people to spend time hunting for mice in urban areas. Meat is one of the delicacies that our people want to see every day on the table. Now thanks to the price controls there is nothing in the shops and the mouse has got to pay the price.

A long time ago people used to survive on eating mice and other wild animals. This is coming back again. Some mouse hunters do it for business, there is big business for it in the Beer halls. For some it's about having food on the table, it is tough being the head of the family in Zimbabwe today.

Even if you want to work for the family, there are no jobs. If you get the job, the wages are not worth talking about. With such high levels of inflation, the bearer cheques can not buy anything meaningful if it was there in the shops. There is nothing in the shops.

More companies are going to shut down, the people who work in supermarkets will be jobless. Production companies will close down, who is going to pay for the child's school fees. Is the child going to learn and do well on an empty stomach?

Is there a crisis in Zimbabwe?

God help us

"No Food, No Water, No Electricity, No Fuel" Welcome to the out of stock country 'Zimbabwe'

>> 20 November 2007

Today you go to the bank to get your few hard earned dollars, only to be told that there is no cash in the bank. That is if someone bothers to tell you so. There is no electricity, no food, no water, no fuel and even beer is not available. What type of country is this? God help Zimbabwe.

What's in store for Zimbabwean people this Christmas and New Year. We hope the New Year might bring better things, but as for Christmas? God knows how much we have suffered.

Looks like it's going to be a tough festive season ahead. This is supposed to be the time to celebrate with friends and family. But what is there to celebrate on an empty stomach? There is nothing to buy in the shops. If you can afford what is available on the black market, still there is no cash to pay for the goods. The bank can not give you your hard earned Zimbabwean dollars.

We used to go to the village every festive season to be together with family and friends. Now there is no fuel, thus no transport to go to the village. End of November is bonus time, but I wonder how many are looking forward to it given the little money they are paid.

God help the children of Zimbabwe!!!

Well done Dynamos Football Club "De-Mbare"

>> 19 November 2007

It was a job well done guys, not only did you beat Highlanders FC in the CBZ trophy. To do it at Barbourfields Stadium makes the victory even sweeter. It makes us proud to be Dynamos FC supporters. You showed them which team is the best in Zimbabwe.

Now finish of the job, we want to make it a league and Cup double. Come on De-Mbare boys we need the league trophy now. Next year we need a successful champions league campaign.

We have always said it, every one knows it but some few people still choose to argue about it. Dynamos is the biggest football club in Zimbabwe. Dynamos is the most successful of all the clubs in Zimbabwe. Look who is on top now.

Now guys you need to finish the job, and go on to win the champions league next year.

How are you shipping your Cargo to Zimbabwe?

>> 15 November 2007

Which service provider are you using to send your cargo to Zimbabwe. I find there are so many of the people advertising their services. Their rates also vary, some charge about £1.50 per kg and some charge up to £6 per kg.

However some do offer to pick your cargo from your residential place and provide you with packing, and some do not provide packaging and you have to take your cargo to them. There are advantages and disadvantages so the best is to shop around for the best deal. Since it's only a few weeks before Christmas, time is very important. You will need somebody offering a faster and efficient service so you get your goods home for Christmas.

I have used one individual before who frequently come to England from Zimbabwe. The advantage with him, is that he will deliver the goods to your place in Harare, it takes only a few days for your cargo to get to Zimbabwe and you do not pay duty in Zimbabwe, It's already included in the charge.

The disadvantage is in the price, you pay £6 per kg.

Recently I have send another shipment this time with a cargo company I was referred to. I'm still waiting to see how long it's going to take for my cargo to get to Zimbabwe. Hopefully not very long since I have send some stuff for my family's Christmas. Otherwise it will be a sad festive season for my family back home.

I'm a Zimbabwean get me out of HERE!!!

>> 14 November 2007

I always keep myself well informed with what is happening in our land of milk and honey, for I'm a son of the soil.

I like ZWNEWS.com for they always bring the real news coming out of Zimbabwe. A lot has happened over the years, to say people are suffering is an understatement. No words can describe what these Zimbabweans are going through.
These pictures from ZWNews, tell a very sad story about Zimbabwe. What next Zimbabwe?

If wishes were horses, I do not think even one Zimbabwean will still be there. These day's you are better off getting out of the country, never mind where you are going because you will still be okay.
How these people are surviving only God knows. To imagine that you need police in riot gear to control people buying bread? Even the policemen is hungry, but where he gets the energy to go and beat up his kith and kin in the bread queue ..... only he knows. And most of these people will not even get to buy the bread, because it will be finished before they even get to the shop..... God have mercy.
And for the man looking for water, God knows what he wants it for. What happened to the sunshine city of Harare, now they can not even have tape water! Sometimes they go for over a week without electricity!
When is this going to end? Is there any light at the end of the tunnel?, that is if the tunnel is there in the first place.
I'm a Zimbabwean, you can have my land please get me out of here!!!!!

Just for laughs Air Zimbabwe Pilot and the Lady

>> 12 November 2007

An illiterate woman boarded a plane from Harare to Bulawayo. She was booked for an economy class seat. Just after the plane took-off, the woman stood up and went to sit in thefirst class cabin.

The flight attendant went to ask her to go back and sit in economy class because that's where the ticket allowed her to sit, but she refused. She had paid and wanted the best seat.

The attendant informed the Jnr pilot. The jnr pilot went and spoke with the lady and she still refused. Then the Jnr, pilot went to inform the chief pilot. The chief pilot said,
"I am married to an illiterate, I'll go and talk to her". The chief went and whispered some words to the woman and she peacefully stood-up and went to her economy class seat.

The attendant and Jnr pilot surprisingly asked, sir what did you tell her? The chief pilot said: "Easy guys, I just told her that first class is not going to Bulawayo, only economy class is"!!!

What next for Airline travellers to Zimbabwe?

>> 07 November 2007

As the news spread around of British Airway's last flight to Zimbabwe, this marked another sad sad charpter in the troubled Zimbabwean community. Already we have to endure long waiting hours, delays and flight cancellations, and when you finally manage to take off on our beloved national airline you pray all the way that you will arrive safely.

How do we find ourselves in this big mess? Is it reaally true that the London to Harare route was no longer economically viable for British Airways?

Looking at what is happening to the Zimbabwean economy, I don't think we can blame BA. All the signs are there to see about how not to manage an economy. At the height of good trading relations, Air Zimbabwe introduced a direct flight from Harare to London. Now there is nothing meaningful happening.

We used to have a booming tourism industry, there was a lot to see in the beautiful land of Zimbabwe. Way before somebody decided to settle right in the middle of the game park and feast on endangered species. Destroying one of the backbones of the tourism industry. And all those who played a part in promoting lawlessness which make people feel very unsecure about going to Zimbabwe, even Zimbabweans.

God have mercy on our beloved Zimbabwe!
