10 MDC MPs arrested in Harare – What type of MPs do we have in the MDC???

Law Breakers/criminals or they are being victimised by the police?

Ten MDC MPs from Morgan Tsvangirai’s party were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly causing disturbances at finance ministry offices. It’s becoming normal now to hear of an MDC MP being arrested, in fact very soon the majority of them will have a criminal record if this continues. What type of leaders do we have in MDC MPs? Is the police victimising MDC MPs? Why is Tsvangirai and the MDC leadership not doing anything about it them?

MDC lawyer, Tafadzwa Mugabe is reported to have told AFP that:

“Ten members of parliament belonging to the MDC (Movement for Democratic Change) have been detained at Harare central,” lawyer Tafadzwa Mugabe told AFP.

“They have been detained for causing disturbances at the offices belonging to the permanent secretary at the ministry of finance.

“I do not have the details, as to what sort disturbances and I am not sure what sort charges will be laid against them,” Mugabe said.

A number of MDC MPs have been arrested over various petty issues…..which the MDC say is a n attempt by Zanu PF to gain parliament majority through the back door. But, what is the MDC doing about it??? At least the people need to know what Tsvangirai and the MDC leadership are doing about these arrests…..if they can not do anything for their fellow MPs, can we expect them to protect the ordinary man in street??

Well, the 10 MPs have been released: "The police released all the 10 members of parliament this morning," Tafadzwa Mugabe, lawyer for Tsvangirai's Movement for Democratic Change told AFP.

They were arrested Wednesday and charged for causing disturbances at the finance ministry offices in Harare.

"Although they have been charged, the police have indicated that they may summon them over the issue," said Mugabe".
